I've invested in armor or skills for most of these heroes so haven't wanted to get rid of them. Just beware there are a few curio item interactions that are always bad instead of helpful. Some will turn certain traps into certain loot, others will purge negative quirks (much better idea than using the sanitarium on locked in ones), others give helpful until camp buffs. Learn what supply items help in what curios (you can look it up in the wiki). There is one in half of medium dungeons and all long dungeons, and if you have a key, you get 3 items that sell for 2,500 each (or possibly 1 of 3 unique trinkets instead). Try to equip trinkets that give +scouting or use camp skills to do that so you can find secret rooms.
Well you get more loot on dark runs, but it's more dangerous, and you are more likely to need to spend on stress relief after.
